We are currently recruiting confident and motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistants to support a range of welcoming primary schools across Preston, Leyland & Chorley. This is a fantastic opportunity to work across different year groups and school settings, supporting teaching and learning while making a real difference in pupils’ progress and development.
The Role:
As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support the delivery of high-quality lessons across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.
- Lead whole-class sessions when required, under the direction of the class teacher.
- Provide targeted support to individuals and small groups to raise attainment.
- Assist in planning and preparing learning activities and classroom resources.
- Support pupils with additional needs, including SEND, ensuring inclusive learning.
- Monitor and record pupil progress, feeding back to teaching staff.
- Help maintain a positive, engaging and well-managed classroom environment.
- Promote positive behaviour and support the school’s behaviour policies.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff and senior leaders.
- Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed at all times.
Essential Requirements:
To be considered for this role, you must:
- Hold a recognised HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.
- Have the Right to Work in the UK.
- Hold a valid Enhanced DBS certificate for the Child Workforce on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one.
- Have recent experience working in a primary school setting.
- Be confident delivering learning activities and supporting whole-class teaching.
- Demonstrate strong behaviour management and communication skills.
- Be reliable, flexible and able to adapt to different school environments.
- Be able to travel to schools across Preston and surrounding areas.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Experience working across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND or additional learning needs.
- Strong understanding of the National Curriculum.
- Phonics and intervention experience.
- Up-to-date safeguarding training.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
- The ability to build strong relationships with pupils and staff quickly.
