We are looking for a dedicated and hardworking Kitchen Assistant to join our friendly Catering Team. This is an important role supporting the delivery of high-quality food and hospitality services for patients, visitors, volunteers and staff.

What You'll Be Doing
As a Kitchen Assistant, you will help ensure our kitchen runs smoothly, safely and efficiently by:

Washing dishes, utensils and catering equipment.

Operating and maintaining dishwashing equipment.

Cleaning kitchen areas, food storage rooms and refrigeration units.

Sweeping, mopping and carrying out regular deep-cleaning duties.

Managing waste disposal and maintaining a safe, hygienic environment.
-
Assisting with basic food preparation, including sandwiches, salads, vegetables and breakfast items.

Supporting food service within the restaurant and hospitality areas.

Receiving and storing deliveries correctly.
-
Carrying out temperature checks and maintaining accurate records.
-
Working closely with colleagues to provide an excellent service across the Hospice.
What We're Looking For
Essential
-
Previous catering experience.
-
Good understanding of food hygiene and cleaning standards.

Basic knowledge of COSHH.

Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Flexible and reliable approach to work.
-
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality.

Willingness to learn and undertake further training.
Desirable
-
Experience in a healthcare environment.
-
Hospitality or housekeeping experience.
-
Customer service experience.
-
Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.

Knowledge of nutrition.
-
Relevant qualification in Catering, Hospitality, Cleaning or Customer Service.
