THE TEAM
Join the Power division at JSM Group, supporting the delivery of critical high-voltage infrastructure projects across the UK utilities and energy sector. You'll work within a specialist substation and grid project management team, leading complex, high-profile programmes that demand strong technical authority, commercial acumen, and a collaborative approach to delivery.
Our projects span BESS, HVDC, EHV substation upgrades, and major grid connection programmes for DNOs, TSOs, and Tier 1 end-clients including hyperscale data centre operators and National Grid. You will be joining a team with a strong track record for delivering safely, on programme, and to budget in some of the UK's most demanding live network environments.
SCOPE OF ROLE
As an Electrical Project Manager, you will take full ownership of one or more high-value contracts, leading delivery from pre-construction and tendering through to commissioning, energisation, and final account close-out. You will hold direct accountability for safety, programme, cost performance, and client satisfaction across your assigned projects.
Working closely with the Contracts Manager, commercial team, and specialist engineering resources, you will manage multi-disciplinary teams, subcontractors, and supply chain partners while maintaining the highest standards of governance and compliance. You will also play an active role in the company's tendering activity and business development.
This is a senior delivery role suited to an experienced electrical professional who combines deep technical knowledge of HV/EHV power systems with the commercial and leadership skills to run complex programmes independently.
HOW YOU`LL SUCCEED
Lead full project lifecycle delivery from FEED and tender through design, procurement, construction, commissioning, energisation, and handover on HV/EHV infrastructure programmes up to 400kV
Act as the primary client interface across DNOs (UKPN, SSE, Scottish Power, NGED), TSOs (National Grid / NESO), ICPs, IDNOs, and hyperscale end-clients
Manage NEC3/4 contract obligations in full, including early warnings, compensation events, change control, and final account negotiation
Maintain comprehensive project governance: programme reviews, risk registers, RAID logs, cost forecasts, and executive reporting packs
Direct multi-disciplinary teams including subcontractors, SAPs, protection engineers, and design consultants, driving delivery to time, cost, and quality targets
Oversee production and review of RAMS, method statements, ITPs, and all QA/QC documentation
Lead FAT/SAT attendance, switching, and energisation planning, ensuring all critical documentation (G99, PGMD, protection and control, cybersecurity) is in place and approved
Work with the commercial team on variations, interim applications for payment, subcontractor accounts, and monthly financial reporting
Contribute to the company's tendering process, providing operational and technical input for bid preparation and feasibility studies
Ensure full compliance with CDM 2015, ESQCR, ENA standards, Grid Code, and all applicable HSE and environmental frameworks
Promote and implement SHEQ policies; lead safety briefings, toolbox talks, site audits, and incident investigations
WHAT IT TAKES
Strong technical authority in HV/EHV power engineering — including substation systems, BESS, HVDC, protection and control, and grid connection processes
Proven leadership of multi-disciplinary teams across multiple concurrent projects in live network environments
Commercially astute with hands-on experience managing NEC contracts, change events, and P&L accountability on high-value programmes
Desirable:
Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or actively working towards it
Experience at a recognised Tier 1 electrical engineering contractor (e.g. H&MV Engineering, Kier, Hitachi Energy, GE Grid Solutions, or equivalent)
Delivery experience for hyperscale data centre operators (Google, Amazon, Microsoft) or National Grid / offshore wind end-clients
Familiarity with Primavera P6, SharePoint, or CDE project management platforms
WHAT WE OFFER YOU
We truly value your work, time, and skills! In return, we will offer you a competitive salary and some additional benefits to support your professional growth, including:
Participation in mentoring and coaching programmes
28 days of holiday (excluding bank holidays)
2 paid volunteering days a year
