We are currently recruiting for experienced and reliable General Bodyshop Operatives to join a well-established and prestigious automotive retailer based on the outskirts of Doncaster. Due to continued organic growth, our client is expanding their existing team and is seeking skilled individuals with experience in vehicle preparation, paint processes and general body repair techniques.
The successful candidate will play a key role within the Bodyshop team, ensuring vehicles are repaired, prepared and finished to the highest standards. You will be responsible for carrying out a range of tasks including vehicle preparation, masking, polishing, smart repairs and basic trim work, while ensuring all repairs meet strict manufacturer, customer and company quality standards.
This role requires someone with a strong eye for detail, excellent workmanship and the ability to work efficiently within a fast-paced automotive environment. The ideal candidate will take pride in delivering high-quality repairs, follow safe working practices and be confident working independently as well as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all Health & Safety procedures, legislation and company policies are followed at all times.
- Report any Health & Safety concerns or issues immediately to management.
- Prepare vehicles, panels and wheels ready for the painting process.
- Complete vehicle masking accurately prior to paint application.
- Carry out polishing and finishing work to meet manufacturer standards.
- Perform smart repairs and minor repair work as required.
- Complete basic vehicle de-trim and re-trim tasks following manufacturer repair instructions.
- Apply vehicle decals and finishing details when required.
- Carry out warranty repairs in line with company procedures and guidelines.
- Ensure all repairs are completed efficiently while maintaining excellent quality standards.
- Record and document repair work accurately using workshop systems.
- Correctly clock jobs and update progress throughout the repair process.
- Maintain a clean, tidy and organised working environment.
- Follow correct handling procedures for tools, equipment and materials.
- Keep up to date with new repair methods, techniques and training.
- Work flexibly across different tasks and support the wider Bodyshop team when required.
- Complete any additional duties requested by management within your capabilities.
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous experience working within an automotive Bodyshop environment or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle preparation, spray paint processes and basic repair techniques.
- Experience with masking, prepping, polishing and finishing vehicles.
- Understanding of quality standards within a professional automotive environment.
- Ability to work accurately with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work independently and use initiative.
- Good communication skills and a positive team attitude.
- Flexible approach with willingness to learn new skills and techniques.
- Full clean UK driving licence preferred.
