The Role
As our Purchasing and Stock Manager your role is critical to the success and growth of our business. Leading a small team, and working in close alignment with our production planning manager and R&D team, you will take full ownership of the supply chain and our stock inventory. This is a hands-on high impact role where you will be responsible for all material purchases, lead cost reduction projects, improve efficiencies internally and manage our stock inventory while developing effective purchasing methods and strategies for the future.
Main Responsibilities of the role
- Creating, maintaining and expediting purchase orders for our production team, R&D departments and general sundry office requirements in line with business needs to ensure availability of stock
- Liaising with suppliers, transport providers and internal teams to ensure materials arrive on time
- Build, maintain and manage strong relationships with our suppliers
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms and lead times with suppliers
- Solve delivery issues and invoice queries
- Take full control of stock inventory and any stock taking requirements, ensuring any stock discrepancies are fully investigated and adjusted
- Maintain a robust system for returns to suppliers of non-conforming goods
- Monitor supplier performance in line with our ISO accreditation requirements
- Ensure compliance with internal processes and systems, supporting continuous improvement initiatives
- Produce reports on set KPI's monthly or as required
Requirements
- At least 2 years of previous experience within a procurement role
- Experience using MRP/ERP systems
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, particularly excel
- Ability to manage and negotiate with suppliers for improved terms
- Good people skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High levels of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills
- A proactive and reliable team player
Desirable but not essential
- People management skills
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing company

This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week.
