Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Garden Centre Horticulture Deputy Manager to join our team in. This role is integral to the smooth operation of our centre, combining horticultural expertise with management responsibilities. The successful candidate will support the overall running of the centre, supervise staff, and ensure excellent customer service. Multilingual abilities and strong leadership skills are highly desirable to cater to our diverse customer base. Responsibilities
- Managing the horticulture department (plants, trees, shrubs, and gardening products).
- Supervising and training staff.
- Ordering and maintaining plant stock.
- Providing expert gardening advice to customers.
- Ensuring high standards of plant care and merchandising.
- Monitoring sales, budgets, and inventory.
- Planning seasonal displays and promotions.
Experience
- Proven management experience within retail or garden centre environments, including supervising teams.
- Strong leadership qualities with excellent communication skills in multiple languages (bilingual/multilingual preferred).
- Demonstrable organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Experience in merchandising, sales management, and customer service excellence.
- Administrative experience including record keeping, stock management, and basic budgeting.
- Knowledge of horticulture is essential; practical gardening experience is highly valued.
- Familiarity with retail management systems and point-of-sale operations.
- Ability to demonstrate effective phone etiquette and organisational skills under pressure.
