Deputy Manager – Progression to Registered Manager
M&M Supply is recruiting on behalf of a specialist residential childcare provider for an experienced Deputy Manager to join a brand-new therapeutic children's home in Edgware.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious childcare professional looking to develop into a Registered Manager within approximately 12 months, with structured support, mentoring and ongoing professional development.
Working within a therapeutic Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) setting, you'll play a key role in supporting children and young people who have experienced trauma and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), helping them build confidence, resilience and brighter futures.
The Role
As Deputy Manager, you'll work closely alongside the Registered Manager to ensure the home operates to the highest standards of care, safeguarding and compliance. You'll lead by example, support the staff team and help create a safe, nurturing and therapeutic environment where children can thrive.
In the absence of the Registered Manager, you'll confidently oversee the day-to-day running of the home and ensure excellent outcomes for the young people in your care.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Registered Manager with the day-to-day management of the home.
- Lead the service in the Registered Manager's absence.
- Ensure high standards of safeguarding, care planning and regulatory compliance.
- Supervise, mentor and support Residential Support Workers.
- Promote a therapeutic, child-centred approach to care.
- Build positive relationships with children, families and external professionals.
- Monitor quality standards and contribute to continuous service improvement.
- Support staff training, development and performance management.
- Ensure accurate record keeping and compliance with Ofsted requirements.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is passionate about improving the lives of children and young people and is ready to take the next step towards Registered Manager.
Ideally, you'll have:
- Previous experience as a Deputy Manager or Senior Residential Support Worker within children's residential care.
- Experience supporting children with SEMH needs, trauma or complex behaviours.
- A sound understanding of children's home regulations and safeguarding legislation.
- Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills.
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (essential).
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management (or willingness to work towards if not already achieved).
- A full UK driving licence is desirable.
- Able to work 2 days on / 4 days off including two sleep-ins, weekends and bank holidays.
