About us
We're an innovation-stage freight technology company developing patent-pending intermodal container platforms. We're progressing a feasibility and detailed design programme for a novel swap body with a major UK logistics operator, alongside a portfolio of container products for last mile delivery.
The role
We're looking for a senior, experienced engineering professional to provide part-time technical direction through our current feasibility and detailed design phase. This suits someone semi-retired or working portfolio-style, seeking meaningful, well-paid part-time work without full-time commitment.
What you'll do
- Direct and critically review technical work carried out by our team and external specialist partners, including structural/FEA analysis and fabrication, you don't need to run FEA models yourself (but great if you can), but you need to be able to interrogate assumptions, methodology, and results
- Own the certification and compliance pathway (swap-body type approval, road/rail operation, intermodal handling standards), working with accredited test/certification bodies
- Provide engineering planning input: milestones, technical risk management, design reviews
- Represent our technical position in working-group meetings with our commercial partner
- Occasional travel for supplier/partner visits and design reviews outside the UK (mainly Central EU)
What we're looking for
- Extensive senior engineering experience, structural, mechanical, or heavy vehicle/transport background
- Strong, hands-on familiarity with certification, compliance, and approval processes
- Comfortable directing and reviewing technical work without needing to perform all of it personally
- Chartered status (IMechE or similar) preferred but not essential given demonstrated equivalent experience
What we offer
