About Big Atom
Big Atom is a growing waste tyre recycling business serving customers across the UK. We work with garages, tyre retailers, fleet operators, waste companies and local authorities to provide compliant waste collection and recycling services.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Credit Controller to take ownership of overdue customer accounts and improve cash collection performance. This is not a general administration role. You will proactively recover overdue debt, secure payment commitments, resolve disputes and recommend escalation actions where required.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of aged debt and overdue customer balances.
- Chase overdue invoices via telephone, email and other approved channels.
- Secure payment commitments and monitor promises to pay.
- Investigate disputes and resolve invoice queries.
- Negotiate payment plans where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate records of all collection activity.
- Provide regular reporting and recommendations to management.
- Support process improvements to reduce future overdue debt.
Candidate Requirements
- Previous Credit Control, Collections or Debt Recovery experience.
- Excellent telephone and communication skills.
- Confident handling difficult payment conversations.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Good Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- Ability to work independently and achieve collection targets.
- Experience in waste, recycling, logistics or transport sectors desirable.
