Job Overview:
We are seeking an organised, proactive, and customer-focused Parts Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our Parts Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient stock control, sourcing quality parts at competitive prices, supporting internal departments, and delivering excellent customer service. The role requires close collaboration with the Directors, Service and Fabrication departments to ensure the smooth running of the business.
What you will be doing:
- Running the trade counter at our Alford depot, welcoming customers and delivering a knowledgeable, helpful service.
- Providing excellent customer service by assisting customers with parts enquiries and issuing quotations.
- Sourcing and supplying parts and materials to keep all departments moving.
- Identifying a wide range of fittings and components, even when they are presented without a part number or reference.
- Finding alternative solutions when lead times from suppliers are an issue.
- Managing stock rotation, ordering, pricing and auditing.
- Keeping the stores to a high standard with tight stock control throughout.
- Using computer software to manage stock, orders, invoicing, and reporting.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers to negotiate pricing, delivery times, and service levels.
- Working with the Directors to support business objectives, improve processes, and identify opportunities for growth and efficiency.
What you'll bring:
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience in agricultural, automotive or heavy industry parts, with a working knowledge of hydraulic and engineering fittings.
- Strong stock control experience and genuine pride in how a stores is run.
- A proactive mindset - if something is needed, you will find a way to source it.
- Confidence on the trade counter, friendly, knowledgeable and customer focused.
- Good IT skills.
- Common sense and the ability to work things out when a customer presents something unusual.
- Reliability, great organisational skills and a desire to keep things running smoothly.
- A good head for numbers and understands the importance of running a profitable parts department.
- Confidence in making decisions and solving problems.
- An ability to adapt to changing priorities and enjoy working in a busy environment.
- The ability to work well as part of a team and has a positive attitude.
- A willingness to learn, grow and help develop systems as the business evolves.
What you will receive:
- Salary up to £40,000.00 depending on experience.
