The Research Department of Clinical, Educational and Health Psychology is part of UCL’s Division of Psychology and Language Sciences (PALS). Psychology at UCL was ranked 4th in the world in the 2025 Shanghai University Rankings. This reflects the excellent links between teaching, professional training and research within PALS.
The UCL Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) is the largest training course for Clinical Psychologists in the country with a typical annual intake of 91 Trainee Clinical Psychologists. The course is committed to a pluralistic ethos with the core purpose of training NHS Clinical Psychologists who are compassionate and culturally humble reflective scientist-practitioners able to engage with multiple perspectives.
This is a fixed-term role for 12 months maternity leave cover.
The postholder will provide dedicated student support on qualitative research and contribute to the management of student assessments across the DClinPsy, as well as contribute to the DClinPsy through teaching, tutoring, mid-placement reviews and assessment.
The postholder will work in close liaison with the DClinPsy Joint Research Directors, the Qualitative Research Lead, and the Assessment Lead. The role will include providing ad hoc support to trainees and supervisors in relation to qualitative research methods, and working as part of the Assessment Team.

This role is part-time (4 days a week).
UCL offers hybrid working where appropriate and the successful applicant may normally work remotely for up to 50% of the week if they wish subject to being able to meet the duties and responsibilities of the post.

You will be a HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist with a doctoral qualification, alongside a completed or submitted PhD by the application deadline. You will have an established track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals, experience of delivering and enhancing DClinPsy teaching and training, and expertise in mental health research, including the use of qualitative methods to develop and evaluate healthcare systems and interventions. You will demonstrate excellent interpersonal, organisational, and written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and effectively within multidisciplinary teams. We are particularly interested in candidates who are committed to promoting excellence in clinical psychology training and fostering a supportive, inclusive, and positive learning environment. Experience of supervising postgraduate students, including MSc, DClinPsy, or PhD candidates, would be advantageous.
