Why Join Hanning Homes?
At Hanning Homes, we want our homes to feel like exactly that – homes.
Our approach is centred around dignity, independence, choice and creating an environment where residents, their families and our team feel welcome.
As Maintenance Manager, you won’t simply be fixing things. You’ll be an important part of the life of the home, helping us maintain a safe, attractive and comfortable environment while building positive relationships with residents and colleagues.
If you’re practical, organised, approachable and take pride in creating a great environment for others, we’d love to hear from you.
About the Role
We are looking for a practical, proactive and organised Maintenance Manager to take responsibility for the maintenance, safety and presentation of our care home.
This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days will be quite the same. You will oversee planned and reactive maintenance, property compliance, contractors, safety checks and the general upkeep of the building and grounds.
More importantly, you will play a key part in making sure our residents live in a safe, comfortable, welcoming and well-maintained home.
You’ll suit this role if you’re someone who notices when something isn’t quite right, takes ownership of getting it sorted and enjoys working in an environment where your work genuinely makes a difference.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Manage and carry out planned, preventative and reactive maintenance throughout the home.
- Respond to maintenance requests and prioritise work based on safety, resident wellbeing and operational impact.
- Carry out regular building and facilities inspections.
- Complete general repairs including basic plumbing, carpentry, decorating and other maintenance tasks within your competence.
- Manage maintenance schedules and ensure outstanding works are completed promptly.
- Carry out and coordinate essential safety checks including fire alarms, emergency lighting, water temperatures, Legionella controls and other building compliance requirements.
- Maintain accurate maintenance, servicing and compliance records.
- Arrange and oversee specialist contractors and engineers where required.
- Monitor the home's call bell system and coordinate servicing or repairs.
- Maintain outdoor areas, pathways, furniture, fencing, gates, lighting and other external facilities.
- Undertake seasonal activities including leaf clearance, gritting, snow clearance and preparation for adverse weather.
- Identify emerging risks or areas of non-compliance and ensure appropriate action is taken.
- Work closely with the Registered Manager, Senior Management Team and wider care and catering teams.
About You

You will ideally have:

- The ability to manage contractors and specialist suppliers.
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritise urgent issues.
- Basic IT skills for maintaining records, schedules and compliance information.
- A professional, approachable and resident-focused manner.
