Powdercoat Operative & Facilities Coordinator (Night Shift)

About the Role
We are looking for a motivated, reliable, and quality-driven Powdercoat Operative & Facilities Coordinator to join our night shift team in Oldham.
This is a dual-purpose role that combines hands-on powder coating production with responsibility for the safe and secure operation of our facility during the night shift. You will ensure fabricated pipework is powder coated to the highest quality standards while also acting as a key point of contact for site safety, security, and facilities management.

Key Responsibilities
Powder Coating Operations
- Prepare and hang fabricated products using the appropriate jigs and fixtures.
- Apply powder coatings in accordance with job specifications and standard operating procedures.
- Operate spray booths and curing ovens, adjusting settings where required.
- Inspect coated products to ensure finish, thickness, and quality standards are achieved.
- Package finished products safely and securely for dispatch.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the powder coating area.
Production Performance
- Work efficiently to achieve daily production targets and hour-by-hour KPIs.
- Participate in daily SQCDP meetings and communicate production issues or improvement opportunities.
- Follow production schedules to support on-time customer delivery.
- Record downtime, quality concerns, and operational issues while assisting with corrective actions.
- Support colleagues and contribute to a positive team environment.
Quality, Safety & Continuous Improvement
- Complete start-up and end-of-shift safety and quality inspections.
- Carry out Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) checks to ensure equipment remains in good working order.
- Follow all Health & Safety procedures, risk assessments, and PPE requirements.
- Support root cause investigations and implementation of corrective actions.
- Participate in 5S activities and workplace audits to maintain a clean and organised environment.
- Contribute ideas for improving processes, quality, efficiency, and workflow.
- Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and assist in their continuous development.
Facilities Coordinator Responsibilities (Night Shift)
As the designated Facilities Coordinator for the night shift, you will help ensure the site remains safe, secure, and fully operational throughout your shift.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring all work areas, welfare facilities, and equipment are safe and operational.
- Securing the building at the end of the shift, including lock-up procedures, alarm activation, and security checks.
- Acting as the designated Fire Warden, ensuring emergency exits remain unobstructed, conducting fire safety inspections, and coordinating evacuations if required.
- Serving as the appointed First Aider, responding to workplace incidents and maintaining accurate records.
- Conducting regular facilities and housekeeping inspections, identifying maintenance or safety concerns.
- Monitoring site security by checking access points and reporting any suspicious activity.
- Liaising with the maintenance team regarding urgent repairs or operational issues.
- Supporting compliance with Health & Safety and environmental procedures across the site.
- Maintaining accurate records of building checks, incidents, maintenance requests, and shift handovers.
- Assisting with emergency response procedures and communicating overnight issues to management.
- Undertaking additional facilities or operational duties as required to support business needs.
What We're Looking For
- Experience within a manufacturing or production environment (powder coating experience is desirable but full training will be provided).
- A strong commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Ability to read and understand job sheets and production instructions.
- Physically fit and capable of manual handling in an active manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work to production targets and perform well under pressure.
- Awareness of Lean Manufacturing principles or quality improvement techniques is advantageous but not essential.
- A responsible and dependable individual who can confidently undertake site safety and facilities responsibilities during the night shift.
- Current Fire Warden and First Aid at work qualification's are desirable
- A proactive attitude with a willingness to take ownership of site safety and facilities responsibilities.
