We are now seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Residential Support Worker to join our Withington team. This is a rewarding opportunity for a passionate childcare professional to take the next step in their career while making a genuine impact on young lives.
The Role
As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you will provide high-quality care and leadership within the home, acting as a positive role model for both young people and staff. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Support & Guidance for Young People – Helping young people develop essential life skills such as budgeting, personal care, and independence, while promoting their emotional wellbeing.
- Shift Leadership – Supervising shifts, fostering a positive team environment, and offering support, guidance, and direction to colleagues.
- Health & Safety – Maintaining a safe and secure home by following health and safety protocols and conducting thorough risk assessments.
- Collaboration – Working in partnership with parents, carers, social workers, and other professionals to deliver tailored support plans for each young person.
- Resource Management – Ensuring the home is well-organised, well-maintained, and fully stocked with the necessary resources.
- Personal Development – Engaging in continuous training and professional development to remain up to date with best practices in residential childcare.
What We Are Looking For
- Experience: A minimum of two year in residential childcare, child protection, or a similar setting.
- Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) – essential.
- Knowledge: A strong understanding of the Children's Homes Regulations 2015, the Children Act, Quality Standards, and Children's Rights.
- Skills: Excellent communication, time management, and risk assessment abilities.
- Personal Qualities: Patience, empathy, resilience, and a calm, proactive approach to challenges.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including sleep-ins, weekends, and holidays.
- Desirable: A full UK driving licence and previous experience in shift leadership.
