Advance Engineering is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Trainee CNC Laser Programmer to join our growing team. No previous industry experience is required. We are looking for an individual with a keen interest in engineering, technology, and computers, who is eager to learn and develop within a busy and dynamic business.
About the Role
As a Trainee CNC Laser Programmer, you will work closely with our experienced team to support the day-to-day operation of the business. You will receive training in CNC laser programming, 2D design software, customer communication, stock control, and general office administration.
This is a primarily office-based role, offering excellent opportunities to learn both technical and commercial aspects of the engineering industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Learn to programme CNC laser cutting machinery using industry-standard software.
- Produce and amend part drawings using 2D CAD/design software.
- Assist with general office administration and daily operational tasks.
- Process customer enquiries and maintain professional communication with customers via telephone and email.
- Raise purchase orders and manage stock levels to ensure materials and consumables are available when required.
- Support production planning and job scheduling activities.
- Assist with deburring, packing, and preparing parts for dispatch when necessary.
- Undertake occasional delivery driving duties as required.
- Work closely with colleagues across both office and workshop departments to ensure customer requirements are met efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for someone who is:
- Interested in engineering, manufacturing, technology, or computer-based work.
- A strong communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Enthusiastic, reliable, and eager to learn new skills.
- Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Organised and capable of managing multiple tasks in a busy environment.

- Comfortable using computers and learning new software systems.

Essential Requirements
- Good general IT and computer skills.
- A genuine interest in engineering and manufacturing.
- Strong attention to detail.
- A willingness to learn and develop new technical skills.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Previous experience of CAD software or engineering environments (although this is not essential as full training will be provided).
