As part of our continued growth, we are looking for an experienced and competent Joiner / Fire Door Installer to join our team.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out a range of joinery and fire door installation, maintenance and remedial works across client properties.
This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced joiner who takes pride in their workmanship and understands the importance of working safely, professionally and in accordance with relevant standards and specifications.
The role will involve working on a variety of sites, both locally and nationwide, so flexibility and a willingness to travel are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out fire door installation, replacement, maintenance and remedial works.
- Undertake general joinery and carpentry works as required.
- Install, repair and adjust doors, frames, architraves, ironmongery and associated joinery.
- Identify defects, damage and areas requiring remedial work.
- Ensure fire doors and associated components are installed and maintained in accordance with relevant specifications, manufacturer requirements and applicable standards.
- Complete works to a high standard, ensuring quality, accuracy and attention to detail.
- Work safely and responsibly on customer premises.
- Maintain a clean, tidy and professional working environment.
- Liaise professionally with customers, site teams and colleagues.
- Complete job sheets, photographs, reports and other required documentation accurately.
- Identify additional works or defects and report these to the appropriate manager.
- Ensure tools, equipment and company vehicles are maintained appropriately.
- Comply with all Helix FMS health and safety, quality and operational procedures.
- Be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience as a Joiner / Carpenter.
- Experience in fire door installation and/or fire door remedial works.
- Good understanding of joinery principles and practices.
- Competent in the use of relevant hand and power tools.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in the quality of your work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Honest, reliable and professional approach.
- Good timekeeping and organisational skills.
- Full clean UK driving licence – essential.
- Willingness and ability to work locally and nationwide.
- Flexibility to stay away from home when required.
Desirable
- Formal joinery/carpentry qualification or relevant trade apprenticeship.
- Relevant fire door installation or inspection training.
- Experience working within facilities management, construction, healthcare, commercial or public-sector environments.
- Knowledge of relevant fire safety and fire door standards.
- Experience completing digital job sheets, photographs and site reports.
- CSCS card or other relevant site qualifications.
