The Role
The Service Controller is the central administrative and operational hub of the service department, playing a vital role in ensuring the efficient delivery of service to our customers. You will be a master coordinator, responsible for organising the schedules of field service engineers, managing customer breakdowns, and handling all service-related administrative duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and organise the daily workload for service engineers, ensuring efficient use of their time.
- Act as the primary point of contact for customers to log breakdowns and schedule service, keeping them informed throughout the process.
- Arrange for engineers to respond to urgent breakdowns and proactive maintenance calls.
- Accurately log all customer interactions and engineer job information to facilitate smooth invoicing.
- Work closely with other departments to help maximize the service department's effectiveness and revenue opportunities.
- Prepare weekly reports on service and breakdown activities.
- Monitor costs and revenue within the service department.
Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in a service coordination or dispatch role, ideally within the material handling, plant hire, or automotive industries.
- Exceptional organisational skills, a high level of accuracy, and strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, for interacting with customers, engineers, and suppliers.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Ability to multitask, prioritise, and work effectively under pressure.
- A strong customer-focused attitude and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- An understanding of service department processes, from initial call to invoicing.

Pay: £28,000.00-£31,000.00 per year
