About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join a primary school in Rochdale from September. The role involves supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, including children who may struggle within mainstream education and require additional support to access learning and develop positive behaviours.
This is a highly rewarding position where you will work closely with pupils in both classroom-based and 1:1 settings. You will help students build confidence, regulate emotions, and engage positively with their education in a structured and supportive environment.
Some pupils may display challenging behaviour, so the successful candidate will need to be calm, patient, resilient, and confident when responding to difficult situations.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs within the classroom
- Provide tailored 1:1 support where required
- Assist teaching staff with lessons and learning activities
- Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation
- Build strong relationships to promote engagement and progress
- Help maintain a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment
About You
Previous school-based experience is not essential; however, confidence, resilience, and a positive attitude towards supporting children with behavioural needs are important.
