Job Description – Cleaner/Housekeeping
Reports To: General Manager / Assistant Manager
Zero Hour Contract - On call : 9 am – 2 pm
Role Purpose:
The Cleaners is responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation throughout the hostel. This role ensures that guest rooms, bathrooms, reception areas, and communal spaces are cleaned and prepared to provide a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for guests and staff. The Cleaner must work efficiently, pay close attention to detail, and maintain excellent standards at all times.
Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitise guest rooms, public areas, and staff facilities in accordance with company standards.
- Change bed linen, replenish supplies, and ensure all areas are tidy and presentable.
- Use cleaning equipment and products safely and efficiently, adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Report any maintenance issues or damages observed during cleaning duties.
- Follow established procedures for waste disposal and chemical handling.
- Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times when interacting with guests or colleagues.
- Assist with special cleaning projects or deep cleans as required.
Qualifications
- Ability to speak Spanish fluently.
- Previous experience in hotel housekeeping, hospitality, or janitorial roles is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
- Good physical stamina to perform cleaning tasks which may involve lifting, bending, or standing for extended periods.
- A positive attitude and excellent communication skills.
- Flexibility to work various shifts including early mornings, evenings, or weekends if required.
