You could be based in or around: Cambridgeshire or Hertfordshire.
You already know how to develop chefs. Now join a provider that will value how you do it.
You understand that great apprenticeship delivery is about more than completing reviews and updating paperwork.
It is about building trust with learners and employers, providing meaningful coaching, maintaining progress and helping apprentices become confident, capable culinary professionals.
At The Training & Learning Company, we are looking for a qualified and experienced Chef Assessor or Hospitality Apprenticeship Trainer who can join us and make an immediate contribution.
This is not an entry-level training opportunity. You must already have an assessor qualification and direct experience of delivering or assessing hospitality, catering or chef apprenticeships.
The Role:
Most of your time will be spent visiting learners in their workplaces, delivering coaching, completing progress reviews and assessing their knowledge, skills and behaviours.
You will manage your own diary, build strong relationships with employers and work from home approximately one day each week to complete planning, administration and learner records.
You will be trusted to take ownership of your caseload, maintain learner engagement and address issues early when progress begins to fall behind.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Managing a caseload of culinary and hospitality apprentices
- Delivering engaging workplace coaching and assessment
- Observing learners in professional kitchen environments
- Completing progress reviews with learners and employers
- Reviewing evidence and providing clear, constructive feedback
- Supporting apprentices to prepare for End-Point Assessment
- Monitoring progress and taking action where learners are at risk of falling behind
- Maintaining accurate and compliant learner records
- Building strong relationships with employers and workplace managers
- Supporting high-quality and timely apprenticeship achievement
What We’re Looking For:
We need someone who can hit the ground running and add value from the outset. You will already understand apprenticeship delivery, caseload management and the standards expected when supporting learners and employers.
You should be organised, confident working independently and comfortable having honest conversations when progress, engagement or workplace support needs to improve.
Essential Requirements (to be considered, you must have):
- A recognised assessor qualification, such as CAVA, TAQA, A1, D32/D33 or equivalent
- Previous experience delivering or assessing chef, culinary, catering or hospitality apprenticeships
- Experience managing your own apprenticeship caseload
- A culinary or professional cookery qualification at Level 3 or above
- Strong professional experience within hospitality or professional kitchens
- Experience supporting apprentices towards End-Point Assessment
- Strong coaching, mentoring and communication skills
- Good organisation and diary-management skills
- Confidence using digital systems to track learner progress and maintain records
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
- Willingness to travel regularly within approximately a two-hour radius of home
- Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check
Why Join TLC?
You will join a supportive and ambitious organisation where quality, learner experience and employer relationships genuinely matter.
You will have the autonomy to manage your caseload while working alongside an experienced hospitality training team committed to maintaining high standards.
What You’ll Receive:
- Salary of £30,000–£35,000, depending on experience
