Restaurant Supervisor Lore of the Sky – Compton Abbas Airfield, near Shaftesbury
Pay: £14.50 per hour
Contract: Hourly paid, variable hours
Hours: Appx. 40 hours, with evening and weekend availability required. Lore of the Sky is looking for an experienced and confident Restaurant Supervisor to join the team at our unique smokehouse at Compton Abbas Airfield. This is a hands-on role for someone who can competently lead a shift, maintain excellent service and compliance standards, and provide clear direction to the front-of-house team. Working closely with the Operations Manager, you will help ensure that every service is organised, commercially aware and delivered to a consistently high standard.
Key responsibilities
- Leading restaurant and bar shifts from opening through to close.
- Allocating sections and responsibilities before service.
- Conducting clear team briefings and shift handovers.
- Maintaining high standards of customer service and presentation.
- Supporting, coaching and directing the front-of-house team.
- Responding confidently and professionally to customer feedback.
- Monitoring bookings, expected covers and staffing requirements.
- Ensuring opening and closing procedures are completed correctly.
- Completing cashing-up and end-of-day reporting where required.
- Maintaining food-safety, allergen, licensing and health-and-safety standards.
- Identifying problems during service and taking appropriate action.
- Supporting stock control, ordering and operational administration.
- Communicating clearly with the kitchen and wider management team.
About you
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience supervising a restaurant, pub or hospitality operation.
- The confidence and ability to lead a busy shift independently.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- A practical and hands-on approach to service.
- Good knowledge of food safety, allergens and licensing responsibilities.
- The ability to remain calm and make sensible decisions under pressure.
- A genuine interest in developing people and improving standards.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and key trading periods.
Due to the rural location of Compton Abbas Airfield, reliable transport will be important.
