Trainee Leakage Technician
Spot the leaks that matter — and help keep the network flowing
Purpose and Scope of the Role
Tetra Tech is seeking Acoustic Logging Technicians to support the United Utilities contract in Merseyside. You will survey the water network, locate fittings, capture noise data using electronic leak detection equipment and support accurate leakage identification. Working outdoors across varied sites, you will contribute to projects that help reduce water loss, protect communities and support regulatory performance. Full training is provided.
Your Impact in This Position
In the short term, you will build practical field skills, strengthen your technical confidence and play a key role in day-to-day survey delivery. Over time, you can develop deeper expertise in leakage detection, inspection and operational support. Longer term, this role offers clear development within a major environmental consultancy and exposure to significant water industry work.

Qualifications and Training
Expected: full UK driving licence, good basic maths and English, basic IT skills, good hearing.
Desirable: experience in field-based work, utilities, surveying or leakage detection.
Full training will be provided.
Work Patterns and Location
Based in Merseyside, with travel to sites across the network. The role is field-based and outdoors, with hybrid or remote working not suitable for the core duties. Flexibility is required for nights, weekends and overtime, depending on operational needs.
