Overall purpose of the role
The Business Support Assistant plays a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of daily business operations by providing comprehensive administrative, logistical and coordination support across the organisation. Acting as a central point of contact for office services, travel arrangements, courier bookings, visitors and employee events, the role supports colleagues at all levels to ensure business activities are organised and delivered effectively. The Business Support Assistant is responsible for maintaining accurate records, coordinating resources, providing excellent customer service and contributing to a professional and welcoming workplace environment, while supporting the wider business in achieving its operational objectives. Due to the nature of the role and its responsibility for providing on-site business support, including welcoming visitors, managing post and couriers and preparing meeting facilities, attendance at the Cockermouth office throughout the working week is an essential requirement of the role.

Main duties and responsibilities
Administration & Office Support

Manage incoming and outgoing post.
- Maintain and update purchasing spreadsheets, ensuring records are accurate and up to date.
- Act as the first point of contact for incoming telephone enquiries, directing calls as appropriate.
- Undertake local collections and other external errands as required to support business operations.
Courier & Shipping

Serve as the primary contact for UK courier bookings and small shipments.
- Support the Finance Officer with arranging and tracking international shipments.
- Liaise with courier providers to ensure timely collections and deliveries.
Travel Arrangements
- Act as the first point of contact for employee travel requests, arranging and booking travel as required.
- Work closely with Director Support to coordinate travel arrangements for Directors.
- Monitor and maintain the company vehicle booking system.
- Arrange and manage bookings for Createc House.
Visitor & Meeting Management

Receive and review visitor requests.
- Coordinate visitor requirements and arrange any necessary support.
- Ensure meeting rooms are organised, presentable and fully prepared for visitors and meetings.
- Provide a professional and welcoming experience for all visitors.
Employee Events

Work collaboratively with the Marketing team to support the planning and coordination of employee events.
- Assist with event logistics, bookings, communications and on-site arrangements to ensure successful delivery.
General
Undertake other reasonable duties in line with the nature and level of the role, as required to support wider business needs.
