This exciting role is based within a nurturing primary school in Walton-on-Thames, where developing their students and staff is at the heart of what they do.
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you’ll be providing tailored support to learners with mixed abilities and needs within the classroom. Your support will be crucial for ensuring all students feel inspired, confident and happy, while making sure all elements of the lesson are being understood.
You’ll also have the opportunity to do 1:1 and small group sessions with learners outside of the classroom, allowing you to build strong bonds and further support them in their learning journey.

Who are Step Into Teaching?
We are a pre teacher training programme that is designed to support and encourage graduates like yourself to choose teaching. We will provide you with practical school-based experience that is an essential foundation for a long-lasting successful career in teaching, educational psychology or counselling. This experience will allow you to qualify for teacher training in the future but will also give you insight into whether teaching is for you.
The opportunity:
- An outstanding Primary School in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey
- Full-time role: Monday - Friday
- September Start
- £500 - £520 per week – term time only
- Classroom-based role
- Working with a range of students including those with SEN

For this role, the ideal graduate will:
- Hold a degree with a 2:2 or above.
- Be supportive, friendly, and approachable
- Be resilient and motivated to support and inspire students to reach their full potential and achieve excellence.
- Be able to take direction and take initiative when required
- Hold excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Have a creative and reflective mindset within the classroom
- Be able to deliver well-structured support sessions to individuals and prepare classroom materials
