Location - Coleshill Office and Site Based (Regional / National Travel as Required)
Purpose of the Role
The Electrical Project Manager is responsible for the successful planning, management, coordination, and delivery of electrical building services projects from pre-construction through to final handover. The role ensures projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards whilst maintaining excellent client relationships and ensuring commercial performance.
The Electrical Project Manager will lead project teams, manage subcontractors and suppliers, coordinate design and installation activities, and oversee all project documentation, commissioning, and handover processes.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
- Manage multiple electrical projects simultaneously from award through to completion.
- Develop and maintain detailed project programmes and delivery plans.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contract requirements.
- Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions where required.
- Lead internal project meetings and client progress meetings.
- Coordinate project resources, labour, materials, and specialist subcontractors.
- Ensure all project milestones are achieved.
Commercial Management
- Monitor project budgets, forecasts, and financial performance.
- Manage project costs to achieve target margins and profitability.
- Identify, quantify, and manage variations.
- Prepare and submit valuations and project cost reports.
- Review subcontractor quotations and approve procurement activities.
- Minimise commercial risk and identify opportunities for value engineering.
Technical Coordination
- Review electrical designs, drawings, specifications, and technical submissions.
- Coordinate activities between:
- Electrical Designers
- Mechanical Project Managers
- Main Contractors
- Consultants
- Specialist Subcontractors
- Manage technical queries and Requests for Information (RFIs).
- Ensure installations comply with project specifications and statutory requirements.
- Oversee testing, commissioning, and system validation.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Promote and maintain a positive health and safety culture.
- Ensure compliance with:

-Electricity at Work Regulations
-Company Health & Safety Procedures
-Client Site Requirements
- Review project RAMS and ensure they are implemented effectively.
- Undertake site inspections and safety audits.
- Ensure accidents, incidents, and near misses are investigated and reported appropriately.
Procurement & Resource Management
- Manage procurement of electrical plant, equipment, and materials.
- Coordinate supplier and subcontractor performance.
- Monitor labour requirements and workforce planning.
- Ensure long-lead items are procured in line with programme requirements.
- Manage site resources to maximise productivity.
Quality Assurance
- Implement company quality management procedures.
- Ensure installations comply with:
-BS 7671
-Building Regulations
-Project Specifications
-Industry Best Practice
- Manage inspection and testing processes.
- Monitor snagging and defect resolution.
- Ensure projects achieve high-quality standards at practical completion.
Client Relationship Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
- Manage expectations and resolve project issues professionally.
- Identify opportunities for repeat business and additional works.
- Support business development activities where appropriate.
Commissioning & Handover
- Oversee commissioning activities and specialist contractors.
- Ensure all test certification is completed and issued.
- Manage the production of:
-O&M Manuals
-Health & Safety Files
-As-Built Drawings
-Commissioning Records
- Coordinate client training and handover activities.
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
- Minimum 5 years' experience managing electrical building services projects.
- Proven track record delivering commercial, healthcare, education, industrial, or public sector projects.
- Strong understanding of:

-Emergency Lighting
-Fire Alarm Systems
-Security Systems
-Data Infrastructure
-Renewable Technologies
- Experience managing subcontractors and site-based installation teams.
- Strong commercial awareness and budget management skills.
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings and specifications.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Competent use of Microsoft Office and project management software.
Desirable
- Experience within a Mechanical & Electrical contractor environment.
- Knowledge of BIM and coordinated services delivery.
- Experience using project planning software such as Microsoft Project.
- Familiarity with NEC and JCT contracts.
- Experience delivering healthcare and critical environment projects.
Qualifications
Essential
- HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
- SMSTS.
- CSCS Manager Card.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- IOSH Managing Safely.
- NEBOSH General Certificate.
- PRINCE2 or Project Management Qualification.
- Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
