Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Qualified HGV Fitter to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) to ensure optimal safety, reliability, and performance. Duties
- Conduct thorough inspections of HGVs using schematics and technical manuals to identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
- Perform repairs and maintenance on heavy vehicles, including engine diagnostics, brake systems, suspension, and transmission components.
- Utilize fabrication skills such as welding and soldering to repair or modify vehicle parts as needed.
- Interpret electrical schematics to troubleshoot wiring issues and perform electrical repairs with precision.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and assembly equipment to carry out repairs efficiently while adhering to safety standards.
- Repair or replace faulty equipment components on excavators, forklifts, and other heavy machinery associated with the fleet.
- Maintain detailed records of all work performed, including equipment repairs, routine maintenance schedules, and parts used.
- Support the assembly of new vehicles or equipment upgrades by following technical drawings and schematics.
- Assist with preventative maintenance tasks to minimize downtime and extend vehicle lifespan.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with team members and internal clients regarding repair status or technical issues.
Experience
- Qualified HGV Fitter
- Class 2 desirable
- Experience in working with a fleet of trucks and plant
- Driving License Essential
- Class 4 and 7 MOT tester - desirable
