Overview
We are seeking a focused and experienced General Manager to lead our newest bar project operation with passion and precision.
We are a small independent group with a mixture of experience spanning hospitality, construction & music production. Our newest venture see's us opening a two-floor bar with a major focus on live music, reviving the heritage of the music scene here in Leytonstone. The bar consists of a lounge style listening bar on the ground floor - offering casual service, with a focus on local beer, wine and a small but intriguing cocktail list, live vinyl and a small record-shop. Downstairs will be entirely focused to live music gigs with service here focused on speed.
This pivotal role involves overseeing the daily bar operation, team training, managing a diverse team, menu creativity and ensuring exceptional customer experiences. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, be self-motivated, pragmatic and hold a strong standard of hospitality to use as a benchmark for the wider team . As a key figure in our organization, you will foster a positive work environment, streamline operations, and uphold our commitment to excellence across all facets of the business.
Duties
- Lead and manage all bar operations, including bar service, drinks/food service, floor service, bar-backing and administrative tasks
- Supervise and motivate team members, providing coaching and development opportunities to foster growth
- Oversee inventory management, ensuring optimal stock levels and accurate ordering within budgeted guidelines
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness
- Implement effective time management strategies to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of tasks
- Coordinate with wider director team to support marketing initiatives, events and community engagement
Qualifications
- Proven management experience with a strong background in hospitality management
- Supervising experience with demonstrated success in team leadership and development
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on clear organizational messaging
- Capable and comfortable with standard Microsoft/Google applications (Excel, Drive, Spreadsheets)
- Demonstrated leadership qualities with the ability to inspire teams and drive results
- Exceptional organizational skills with keen attention to detail in managing multiple priorities simultaneously
