The role
The School of Computer Science and Digital Technologies are recruiting two Lecturer's on a teaching and research (T&R) contract. You will teach on our undergraduate and postgraduate computing courses and run your own research programme.
We are looking for someone who will strengthen the current research themes or establish a new area. We are particularly interested in expanding in core computer science topics, Green and sustainable computing (including energy-aware systems, efficient machine learning, the carbon cost of computation, sustainable infrastructure), or Computer science applied to games (including real-time graphics, simulation, accessibility).
Our curriculum covers programming and software engineering, data and databases, networks and cyber security, and AI and machine learning. You will design and deliver lectures, tutorials and practical sessions across our undergraduate and postgraduate computing provision, set and mark assessment, give feedback students can act on, and act as a personal tutor.
You will work as part of a team, with a real say in how modules develop and how they are taught.
We're looking for someone who is passionate about teaching, strives for excellence, and is dedicated to making a positive impact on learners' lives.
What you will bring

Hold a PhD in computer science or a closely related field, awarded or close to submission.
- Have peer-reviewed publications at a standard that meets REF requirements.
- Have higher education teaching experience, and the ability to design, deliver and assess modules at more than one level.
- Bring a commitment to inclusive and accessible teaching.
In addition to your teaching and learning experience, you will be an established researcher with a record of high-quality outputs and a proven ability to secure research funding.
We welcome applications from candidates whose research demonstrates societal impact, and where there is evidence of knowledge exchange, business or community engagement, and national and international collaboration. Experience of doctoral level supervision would also be an advantage.
