ROLE: Management Accountant
LOCATION: Bristol, BS16 7FG
HOURS: Monday-Friday, 08:30am-17:00pm (1 Hour lunch break unpaid)
We are looking for a high-calibre Management Accountant to join our finance team during an exciting period of growth and development. Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, you will become a key member of the team, providing critical financial support, insight, and challenge to help drive business performance.
This role offers far more than traditional management accounting. You will work closely with senior management across the business, supporting strategic initiatives, process improvements, acquisitions, operational projects, and commercial decision-making. As a trusted support to the Head of Finance, you will have the opportunity to influence outcomes, develop your skills rapidly, and gain exposure to a wide range of finance and operational activities.

Key responsibilities:
- Preparation and ownership of the management accounts process
- Preparation and review of monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Month-end customer invoice reporting
- Assist with VAT returns and other regulatory compliance obligations
- Monthly analytical reporting and variance analysis
- Stock reconciliation
- Assist with ongoing budgeting, forecasting and cash flow reporting
- Support ad-hoc financial analysis, projects and business improvement initiatives
- Providing cover for other team members, including both sale and purchase ledger activities
Knowledge & Skills:
- Strong understanding of management accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Experience preparing monthly management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret financial information and communicate findings to non-finance stakeholders.
- Strong Excel skills and experience using accounting and ERP systems.
- Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
About You:
- You hold an appropriate accounting or finance qualification for the role (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, AAT or equivalent) or are qualified by significant relevant experience.
- You are commercially aware and enjoy using financial information to support business decisions.
- You are self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- You take ownership of your work and demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- You have excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
- You are confident building strong working relationships across all levels of the business.
