Job Title: Evening Cleaner
Location: Credenhill Court Rest Home, Credenhill, Hereford, HR4 7DL
Reports To: Senior / Care Home Management
Hours: Friday, Saturday & Sunday 6.30pm – 10:00pm
Contract Type: Part-time / Permanent
Job Purpose
To maintain a clean, safe, hygienic, and welcoming environment throughout the care home’s communal areas for residents, visitors, and staff. The role involves evening cleaning duties to ensure high standards of cleanliness and infection control are consistently met.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitise communal areas including:
- Lounges
- Dining rooms
- Corridors
- Reception areas
- Toilets and washrooms
- Staff rooms
- Vacuum, sweep and mop floors.
- Dust and wipe down furniture, fixtures, handrails, and surfaces.
- Empty bins and replace bin liners.
- Clean internal glass, mirrors and touchpoints.
- Replenish consumables such as soap, paper towels and toilet tissue.
- Follow infection prevention and control procedures at all times.
- Safely use cleaning chemicals and equipment in accordance with COSHH guidelines.
- Report maintenance issues, hazards, or spillages promptly.
- Ensure cleaning equipment is cleaned and stored correctly after use.
- Work respectfully around residents, maintaining dignity and privacy.
- Support a calm and pleasant environment during evening hours.
Person Specification Essential
- Reliable and punctual.
- Good attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently.
- Basic understanding of hygiene and cleanliness standards.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to follow health and safety procedures.
Desirable
- Previous cleaning experience, ideally in a care home, healthcare, hotel, or similar environment.
- Knowledge of infection control procedures.
- COSHH awareness/training.

- Physically able to carry out cleaning duties.

Health & Safety
The postholder must:
- Follow all health and safety policies and procedures.
- Wear appropriate PPE when required.
- Report accidents, incidents, or unsafe conditions immediately.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding residents and staff.
