Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented MEI Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will play a key role within the engineering organisation and has responsibility for breakdown and corrective actions as well as participating in condition monitoring and the delivery of preventative and planned maintenance activities. We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced multi-skilled engineer to join our dynamic engineering department.
As a member of the Engineering department, you will be responsible for ensuring our production and site equipment operates at peak performance through planned preventative maintenance, fault finding and a rapid response to breakdowns. You will play a key part in driving reliability, safety and continuous improvement across the plant through
Responsibilities
- To minimise production downtime and related quality issues related to machinery condition
- To complete scheduled planned and preventative routines and undertake necessary corrective actions in a timely manner.
- To participate as a member of the team in investigating and correcting processes, product and quality related issues.
- To maintain and develop the physical environment of the company as a safe, secure and productive place to work
- To provide on-call maintenance support to the mill as determined by the on-call duty rota.
- To minimise production downtime and quality losses related to machine performance and breakdown through the provision of a skilled and responsive front line maintenance service
- To participate in fault finding, diagnostic and corrective actions to maintain and improve the operation of the process equipment
- To act as incident coordinator (on shift) in the event of major breakdowns / incidents requiring the involvement / call in of other maintenance and support services
- To participate as a member of the team in investigating and correcting process, product and quality related issues, and the delivery of robust corrective actions
- Understanding safety regulations, including Lock Out-Tag Out, risk assessments, and environmental compliance.
Requirements
- Multi skilled engineer – ideally mechanical bias but will consider electrical bias 60:40 split.
- Apprentice trained / NVQ Level 3 in an engineering discipline.
- Worked within manufacturing.
- Good mechanical appreciation and knowledge of rolls, bearings, pumps, hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, valves, pistons
- Working knowledge of workshop equipment
- Knowledge of Vacuum experience would be an advantage
- Ability to read and interpret electrical / mechanical drawings
- PLC experience (in-house packages; Allen Bradley and Siemens)
- Experience of electromechanical maintenance of high-speed production machines
- Demonstrable expertise in component and sub-system fault finding and reporting
- Experience of working with variable speed drives AC / DC and knowledge of industrial sensors and transducers (e.g. proximity, photoelectric, thermocouples)
- Possess the ability to plan, review and implement CI initiatives.
- Proactive, organized and detailed focus approach.
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to team-based problem solving. Understanding of safety regulations, including Lock Out-Tag Out, risk assessments, and environmental compliance.

Pay: £40,000.00-£46,000.00 per year
