About Us
We are a therapeutic farm in Longham, Ferndown. With the experienced guidance and support from our Staff and the generosity of our Volunteers we offer a day service to people living with mental health issues, physical disabilities, addiction, Alzheimer & dementia diagnosis, brain injury, vision & hearing impairment, autism, children excluded from school, Parkinson’s and learning difficulties to engage in an array of interesting activities on the farm.
We work alongside local businesses, churches, social services, local authorities, schools, universities, organisations and charities. We are open to the public to purchase fresh seasonal vegetables, our own honey, eggs & kindling, from our on site Farm Shop.
The Role
We're looking for a reliable, detail-oriented Bookkeeper, who is highly proficient at using Xero to join us on a part-time basis. This is a hands-on role working closely with our Team and Directors to keep our financial records accurate for the day to day running of the accounts
Bookkeeper duties and responsibilities
- Maintaining accurate financial records using accounting software (we currently use Xero)
- Organising and maintaining both digital and physical financial document systems
- Acting as a point of contact for our external accountants during audits or year-end reviews
- Completing VAT returns
- Managing accounts payable and receivable, including timely processing of invoices and supplier payments
- Reconciling bank statements and producing financial reports as required
- Supporting Monthly payroll processing (option)
- Handling day-to-day farm shop floats, takings and banking
- Event floats, recording and banking
- Organising and maintaining both digital and physical financial document systems
- Ensuring our financial processes remain compliant with relevant regulations and internal policies
What We're Looking For
- Proven bookkeeping experience, with confident hands-on use of Xero
- A solid grasp of bookkeeping principles, debits, credits, reconciliations, and reporting
- Experience with payroll and expenses
- Experience managing both purchase and sales ledgers
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy matters here
- Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise
- Clear, professional communication, written and verbal
- Someone who can work independently, use their initiative, and get on with the job but can also work as part of a team where necessary

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: negotiable (pro-rata)
Expected hours: 21 hours per week
Benefits:
5 weeks holiday plus bank holidays (pro-rata)
Pay: £14.50 per hour
