Natural Environmental Engineering Ltd is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Mechanical Engineering Apprentice to join our growing engineering team.
This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience working on heavy industrial recycling machinery while studying towards a recognised engineering qualification.
The successful candidate will receive practical, on-the-job training from experienced engineers while attending college one day per week (fully paid) to complete their apprenticeship qualification.
No previous industry experience is required—just a genuine interest in engineering, a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
The Role
Working alongside experienced engineers in our workshop and on customer sites, you will assist with:
- Mechanical servicing and repairs.
- Planned preventative maintenance.
- Hydraulic repairs and fault finding.
- Welding and fabrication.
- Machine installations and commissioning.
- Engine servicing and maintenance.
- Workshop duties and equipment preparation.
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment.
- Completing electronic job sheets using our job management software.
- Learning to communicate professionally with customers while working on site.
Essential Requirements
- A genuine interest in mechanical engineering and learning a skilled trade.
- Practical, hands-on approach with a willingness to develop new skills.
- Reliable, punctual and hardworking.
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Good communication skills and the confidence to speak professionally with customers.
- Basic IT skills and willingness to learn electronic job management software.
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions from senior engineers.
- Willingness to travel throughout the UK and occasionally stay away overnight when required.
- Full UK driving licence or actively working towards obtaining one.
Desirable Skills
While not essential, experience or interest in any of the following would be advantageous:
- Cars, motorcycles or diesel engines.
- Welding or fabrication.
- Agricultural, plant or commercial vehicles.
- Heavy machinery or industrial equipment.
- Mechanical hobbies.
