What this role is all about
The role will support research, innovation and product development across the Vitality Programme, our health and wellbeing behaviour change programme. You'll use data, customer insight and actuarial expertise to uncover opportunities, develop compelling products and benefits, and improve how members engage with their health and wellbeing. Working with product, digital and marketing teams, you'll contribute throughout the product lifecycle, from idea generation and business case development through to launch and performance evaluation.
Key Actions
- Analyse member behaviour, engagement and programme performance to identify opportunities for new products, benefits and member experiences
- Extract and analyse data from multiple sources using SQL
- Support the design, pricing, evaluation and enhancement of Vitality products and benefits
- Apply actuarial techniques to assess impacts on mortality, morbidity and persistency
- Translate analysis and customer insights into innovative product concepts and propositions
- Produce and present compelling recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Build business cases, product specifications and success measures for new product initiatives
- Conduct research into wellness trends, consumer behaviour, emerging technologies and competitors
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, digital, marketing, data science and clinical teams to develop and launch new propositions
- Contribute across the full product lifecycle from opportunity identification and concept development through to implementation and performance monitoring
- Support the development of innovative propositions aligned to member needs, business strategy and market opportunities
What do you need to thrive?
- Part‑qualified actuary with strong progress through professional exams
- Proven experience using SQL to extract, manipulate and analyse complex datasets
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights
- Experience supporting pricing, product evaluation or actuarial analysis
- Understanding of key actuarial concepts including mortality, morbidity and persistency
- Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non‑technical audiences
- Strong collaborative mindset, with experience working cross‑functionally with product, digital or marketing teams
- Curiosity, initiative and a drive to see analysis translated into real product outcomes
- Experience with Python or R for data analysis
