Sous Chef – Shed Grill & Seafood | Belfast City Centre
Shed Grill & Seafood is a busy, high-quality steakhouse in the heart of Belfast City Centre, part of the Shed Group — a hospitality brand with over 8 years in the industry. Since opening in September 2025, the restaurant has continued to grow from strength to strength. With a busy summer ahead and Christmas already shaping up to be one of our biggest yet, we're looking for an experienced Sous Chef to join our kitchen leadership team.
The Role
This is a hands-on position for a chef who thrives in a fast-paced, high-quality kitchen. Working closely with our Head Chef and Executive Chef, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day running of the kitchen, ensuring every service is delivered to the highest standard.
We're looking for someone who is organised, reliable, and passionate about producing consistently great food while helping to lead and develop the team.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen
- Leading the team during service and confidently taking charge in the Head Chef's absence
- Maintaining exceptional food quality, consistency, and presentation
- Assisting with stock control, ordering, and minimising waste
- Ensuring food safety, due diligence, and hygiene standards are maintained at all times
- Helping train, mentor, and motivate junior chefs
- Working alongside the Head Chef and Executive Chef on menu development and seasonal specials
- Contributing to a positive, organised, and professional kitchen culture
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef, or a strong Junior Sous Chef ready to take the next step
- Experience working in a busy, high-volume restaurant environment
- Strong knowledge of steakhouse or grill cooking (seafood experience is an advantage)
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- A calm, professional approach under pressure
- A strong work ethic with high standards of punctuality and reliability
- Someone who leads by example and takes genuine pride in their work
- A team player who wants to grow within a successful hospitality group
