A leading UK construction and infrastructure contractor is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join its South West team, initially working on a significant JCT-based project within the defence sector in Bristol.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established business with a strong pipeline of secured work. Upon completion of the initial scheme, there will be opportunities to work across a diverse portfolio of projects spanning sectors including commercial, education, healthcare, industrial and public sector developments.
The Role
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will take responsibility for the commercial management of a major construction project, ensuring costs are effectively controlled while maximising value and maintaining strong client and supply chain relationships.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing project costs from procurement through to final account.
- Administering and managing JCT contracts.
- Preparing and reviewing subcontract packages and procurement schedules.
- Valuing completed works and managing applications for payment.
- Producing cost reports, forecasts and financial updates.
- Managing subcontractor accounts, variations and change control.
- Supporting risk management and commercial strategy.
- Ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and company procedures.
- Working closely with project delivery teams to achieve successful project outcomes.
About You
The successful candidate is likely to possess:
- Previous experience in a Quantity Surveyor position within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of JCT forms of contract.
- Experience managing projects from pre-construction through to completion.
- Excellent commercial awareness and cost management skills.
- Strong negotiation and communication abilities.
- Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (preferred).
- Membership of, or progress towards, RICS/CIOB is advantageous.
- Experience within defence, public sector or secure environments would be beneficial, though not essential.

Pay: £55,000.00-£65,000.00 per year
