Poppy’s Tutoring Company provides private tuition for young learners in Dorset and South London, specialising in interactive, engaging and effective teaching techniques. We create a fun and supportive environment that helps students deepen their knowledge and, most importantly, build their confidence. Recognising that some children may find traditional classrooms challenging, we focus on personalised, one-to-one learning that addresses their unique needs and questions. Our tutors travel to families’ homes across Bournemouth, Poole, Wimborne, and Purbeck, offering tailored support from Key Stage 2 through GCSE.
Role: In-Person Tutor – English & Maths (KS2–GCSE)
Location: Bournemouth, Poole, Wimborne (travel required)
Rate: £40 per hour
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated in-person tutor to provide one-to-one lessons in students’ homes. You’ll support learners across:
- Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3
- Predominantly GCSE English and GCSE Maths
Daytime home education and after-school sessions are both part of the role.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver interactive, engaging lessons that spark curiosity and build confidence
- Adapt teaching to different learning styles and needs, including SEN support
- Celebrate effort and progress, not just results
- Work in partnership with parents to ensure continuity and clear communication

Requirements
- Enhanced DBS certificate – required
- Proven teaching/tutoring experience – required
- Experience supporting students with SEN – required
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – desirable
- Full clean UK driving licence and access to a car – required
- Rate of pay: £40 per hour
