Overview
We are seeking a motivated and dedicated HGV 2 Refuse Driver & Loader to join our dynamic waste management team. In this vital role, you will operate a Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) Class 2 truck to collect and transport refuse and or recyclables from designated areas. You will also assist with loading and unloading waste materials, ensuring efficient collection routes and maintaining high safety standards. Responsibilities
- Safely operate a Class 2 HGV vehicle to collect refuse and recyclables from residential, commercial, or industrial sites according to scheduled routes
- Assist with loading waste materials onto the vehicle, ensuring proper handling and securement of loads
- Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety, cleanliness, and operational readiness
- Follow all traffic laws, health and safety regulations, and company policies during daily operations
- Maintain accurate collection records, route logs, and delivery documentation
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding route updates or issues encountered during collection rounds
- Support in maintaining the cleanliness of the vehicle and work area, adhering to environmental standards
Skills
- Valid HGV 2 (Class 2) driving license with a clean driving record
- Proven experience as a commercial driver or delivery driver, preferably in waste collection or similar sectors
- Knowledge of safe driving practices and road safety regulations
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, loading, and unloading waste materials efficiently
- Familiarity with flatbed handling or similar equipment is advantageous
- Strong communication skills for coordinating with team members and reporting issues promptly
- Commitment to safety procedures and environmentally responsible practices
