Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Kitchen Hand/Cook to join our culinary team. This role involves assisting with food preparation, cooking, and maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene.
We are an extremely busy cafe and looking for someone who has experience working efficiently in a busy environment.
Due to high application volume, we will only respond to candidates with relevant busy kitchen/hospitality experience.
Responsibilities
- Assist in food preparation, including chopping, peeling, and basic cooking tasks.
- Cook meals according to established recipes and standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including washing dishes and utensils
- Ensure all food safety protocols are followed at all times
- Support the team during busy service periods by preparing ingredients and assisting with plating
- Help with stock control, including receiving deliveries and storing ingredients appropriately
- Adhere to health and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment for all staff
- Serve food to customers in a courteous and professional manner when required
Requirements
- Previous experience in a kitchen or restaurant environment is essential.
- Knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and meal presentation
- Understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a busy setting
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail
- Willingness to learn new skills and work as part of a team
- Flexibility to work shifts as required, including weekends.
