Angel Hill Surgery is looking for a healthcare assistant (HCA) to join the practice in this vital patient-facing role with both clinical and administrative responsibilities. The role is offered on a part-time, fixed term contract basis until 30th April 2027.
Main duties of the role:
- Carry out base-line observations such as pulse, oximetry, temperature, blood pressure and blood glucose levels, recording findings accurately.
- Wound care, venepuncture, phlebotomy checks and administering of medicines and vaccines.
- Ensure that all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session.
- Update patient health records.
- Ensure that medical supplies are in stock.
- Act as a chaperone where required.
- Assist GP during the performance of minor operations.
- Communicate with patients, relatives, and carers including providing valuable health promotion and education.
- New patient health checks.

All applicants should have the following skills and qualifications:
Qualifications and experience - these are a requirement to be considered for the role:
- Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care, or equivalent.
- Experience of working within a GP practice.
Essential knowledge, skills and experience:
- Strong clinical skills including venepuncture/phlebotomy.
- Excellent patient-facing communication and interpersonal skills.
- Confidential manner with a compassionate and respectful approach, placing a high value on the dignity of patients, relatives, carers and colleagues.
- Ability to work independently, determining own workload priorities, as well as working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
