Our children’s services volunteers help the charity to deliver essential services in local communities, providing support to over 300,000 children, young people and their families. This role provides a great opportunity to join our fantastic children’s services and help make a real difference. Our community hubs are a place where any member of the community can seek advice and support on a range of topics. As a community hub helper, you’ll be a welcoming and friendly face at our community hubs. You’ll support children, young people, families, and other community members to feel at home, take part in group activities, and get the most out of the space. There are a range of tasks you can get involved with, from meeting and greeting visitors, setting up meeting spaces, supporting or delivering group sessions, restocking the community café and much more. Your help will contribute to creating an inclusive, vibrant and supportive environment for everyone. **Freshwater - Health Visitor Drop-In Sessions.** Volunteers play an important role in creating a welcoming and supportive environment for families attending Health Visitor drop-in sessions. Do you have a couple of hours to spare on a Wednesday morning each month? Then we would love to hear from you. Key responsibilities include: - Welcoming families on arrival and helping them sign in. - Checking registrations and supporting families to register where needed. - Engaging with families while they wait, helping them feel comfortable and supported. - Sharing information about available services, workshops, courses, and play sessions. - Supporting the smooth running of sessions by keeping track of the waiting area and directing families to the Health Visitor when it is their turn. - Helping ensure families receive the right information and access support efficiently You must be living in the UK to apply for a volunteering role with Barnardo's.
We are looking for volunteers to provide a friendly and welcoming face at our community hubs.
Tasks: Welcoming visitors. Greeting people as they arrive, helping them feel welcome and answering basic questions.
Encouraging children, young people, families and other community members to join activities and groups.
Planning and delivering workshops and training sessions, alongside staff, for Community Hub users.
Supporting weekly groups for children and young people, such as homework clubs.
Assisting at meetings by supporting with setting up, note taking, refreshments and general help at meetings or support sessions.
Creating a welcoming, safe, tidy and inclusive space for users of the Community Hub
Adhering to Barnardo's policies and procedures at all times, including Barnardo's: Safeguarding; Equality, Diversity and Inclusion; Health & Safety; Data Protection; Confidentiality; Recording policies and procedures.
Participating fully in training and supervision.
