Job Overview
As a member of the Bar & Venue Team at Backyard Comedy Club, you will play a key role in creating a safe, welcoming and enjoyable experience for every customer. This is a varied, hands-on role that combines bar service, customer service, venue operations and general maintenance to ensure every event runs smoothly.
You will be expected to work collaboratively with colleagues, maintain high standards of cleanliness and professionalism, and contribute to the overall success of each show.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with licensing laws and company procedures.
- Deliver friendly, efficient and professional customer service at all times.
- Check identification where required and operate under the Challenge 25 policy.
- Monitor customer behaviour and refuse service where appropriate in line with licensing legislation.
- Collect empty glasses, bottles, crockery and plates from customer areas throughout the venue.
- Maintain cleanliness of the bar, customer areas, toilets and back-of-house spaces.
- Carry out routine cleaning duties including wiping surfaces, mopping floors, emptying bins and restocking supplies.
- Assist with setting up the venue before opening, including furniture layout, stocking bars and preparing customer areas.
- Support the closing of the venue by cleaning, restocking, cashing up (where required) and ensuring the venue is secure.
- Promote a safe environment by identifying and reporting hazards, spillages or maintenance issues promptly.
- Remain vigilant to customer welfare, safeguarding concerns and any situations that may require intervention or management support.
- Work closely with security, management and other team members to ensure events run safely and efficiently.
- Follow all Health & Safety, Food Hygiene and Licensing procedures.
- Operate tills and card payment systems accurately.
- Restock bars, refrigerators and storage areas throughout shifts.
- Assist with stock deliveries and rotate stock where required.
- Help answer customer questions and provide information about shows, facilities and venue policies.
- Represent Backyard Comedy Club in a professional and positive manner at all times.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties requested by management to support the effective running of the venue.

- Previous bar, hospitality or events experience is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
Physical Requirements
This role involves periods of standing, walking, lifting stock, moving furniture, collecting glassware and working in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

Pay: £14.24 per hour
