ABOUT OWLIS
Owlis is a UK managed IT services group. We bring locally trusted regional IT businesses together under one nationally backed platform, giving small and medium-sized businesses the proactive, strategic support of an enterprise IT director — without the overhead of hiring one in-house.
Our group has grown through acquisition, and our finance function supports multiple entities across the group as they come together under Owlis. This role sits at the centre of that work.
THE ROLE
We're looking for an Accounts Assistant to support the Financial Controller with the general accounting work for a number of our acquired entities. You'll help keep the day-to-day finances of these businesses accurate, up to date, and ready for reporting, while we bring their processes in line with the wider Owlis group.
This is a hands-on role covering the full range of transactional accounting. You'll work across multiple sets of books, so accuracy, organisation, and the ability to switch context cleanly between entities matter as much as technical accounting skill.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Processing purchase invoices, sales invoices, and expenses across the group's entities
- Reconciling bank accounts and resolving discrepancies promptly
- Maintaining accurate sales and purchase ledgers
- Supporting month-end close, including accruals, prepayments, and journal postings (deferred income, accrued income, stock)
- Assisting with VAT return preparation across multiple entities
- Chasing outstanding customer payments and managing supplier queries
- Maintaining fixed asset registers and intercompany records
- Supporting the Financial Controller with ad hoc reporting and analysis
- Helping align each entity's bookkeeping processes with Owlis group standards as integration progresses
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Experience:
-
Proven experience in a transactional accounts or bookkeeping role
- Comfortable managing accounts for more than one entity or business unit at a time
- Confident using accounting software (e.g. Xero, Sage, QuickBooks) and Excel
- Experience in a multi-entity, group, or practice environment is an advantage
You'll thrive in this role if you are:
-
Highly organised, with a strong eye for detail and accuracy
- Comfortable managing competing priorities across different entities
- A clear communicator, confident working directly with a Financial Controller
- Practical and reliable — someone who gets the basics right, every time
- Open to process change, as entities align to a single group standard
WHAT WE OFFER
A salary of up to £30,000 depending on experience and the chance to build broad accounting experience across multiple businesses inside a growing group.
BENEFITS
As a newly formed group, we are currently defining our group-wide benefits package. Alongside a workplace pension and paid annual leave, we are planning to introduce:
-
Private medical insurance
- On-demand learning and development programmes
- Wellbeing initiatives that support your wellbeing and a healthy working life
We will be expanding this list gradually as the group grows — and the people joining us now will help shape it.
