Job Description
We are looking for an experienced, motivated and passionate Sous Chef to join our busy kitchen team. Working closely with the Head Chef, you will play a key role in leading the kitchen, maintaining high food standards, supporting junior chefs and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations during our busy trading periods.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
- Lead the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence.
- Prepare and cook high-quality dishes to company standards.
- Organise kitchen stations and ensure an efficient service.
- Supervise and support junior kitchen staff, providing coaching and training where required.
- Assist with menu development and the creation of daily and monthly specials.
- Monitor food quality, portion control and presentation.
- Manage stock levels, place orders and carry out stock takes.
- Receive, check and sign off supplier deliveries.
- Minimise waste through effective stock rotation and kitchen management.
- Ensure all food safety, HACCP and health & safety procedures are followed at all times.
- Complete temperature checks, cleaning schedules and all required kitchen documentation.
- Maintain excellent communication with the front-of-house team to ensure smooth service.
- Remain calm, organised and lead by example during busy service periods.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef or experienced Chef de Partie ready to progress.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent knowledge of food safety and HACCP procedures.
- Experience with stock control, ordering and GP awareness.
- Passion for producing high-quality food and maintaining high standards.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
- Flexible, reliable and able to motivate others.
