Position Details
Location: Unit 3, Penmore Business Centre, Saxton Close, Hasland, Chesterfield, S41 0SJ
Hours : 35 hours, Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 4 pm ( 30 minutes unpaid break)
Flexibility : Occasional weekends required to support charity and community events.
Language : Can speak at least one Indian Language ( Preferably Hindi)
Are you passionate about making a difference in the community? The Asian Association Chesterfield and North Derbyshire is looking for a versatile, organised, and dedicated Charity Support & Operations Officer to join our team.
In this multifaceted role, you will be the backbone of our operations, leading on financial administration and mission-driven outreach. You will play a vital role in maintaining our financial health, managing our digital presence, and securing the funding needed to support our community.
Key Responsibilities
- Digital Communications & Brand Management: Oversee and update our website via Wix ensuring our community stays informed about our services and events; create high-quality visual assets for social media, newsletters, and awareness campaigns using Canva.
- Fundraising & Grant Management: Identify and research grant opportunities; draft and submit persuasive grant applications to charitable trusts, foundations, and local funding bodies; monitor deadlines and manage reporting requirements.
- Project Management: Provide administrative support for ongoing community projects; assist in project scheduling, tracking milestones, and ensuring effective team collaboration.
- Financial Administration & Accounts: Manage day-to-day bookkeeping using Xero (invoicing, expense tracking, and bank reconciliation). You will maintain accurate financial records to ensure transparency and liaise with our accountants to facilitate year-end reporting and compliance.
What We Are Looking For
Essential
- Fundraising Success:Proven experience in writing successful grant applications and an understanding of the charity sector.
- Organisational Skills: Strong project management abilities with the capacity to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Cultural Competency: A deep understanding of, and commitment to, the needs of the diverse communities in Chesterfield and North Derbyshire.
- Passion: A genuine desire to support the mission of the Asian Association.
- Digital Fluency: Experience managing websites (specifically Wix) and designing content using Canva.
Desirable, if not must be willing to learn
- Accounting Experience: Proficient in using Xero or similar cloud-based accounting software and comfortable communicating financial data to professional accountants.
