Location: Somerset – regular travel across the county
Salary: £26,200 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
On-Call: Participation in an out-of-hours rota
Driving Licence: Full driving licence and access to a vehicle required
Domestic Abuse Support Coordinator
An established charity and support provider is recruiting a compassionate and motivated Domestic Abuse Support Coordinator to support women and children affected by domestic violence and abuse across Somerset.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone with experience within domestic abuse, housing, homelessness, social care, health care or community support who wants to make a genuine difference to the lives of people experiencing domestic abuse.
Working directly with victims and survivors, the successful candidate will provide trauma-informed, person-centred support, helping individuals improve their safety, access appropriate services and accommodation, and rebuild their independence.
Key Responsibilities
As Domestic Abuse Support Coordinator, responsibilities will include:
- Providing practical and emotional support to victims and survivors of domestic abuse.
- Conducting regular key work sessions with individuals.
- Completing comprehensive needs and risk assessments.
- Developing individualised support and risk management plans.
- Identifying the needs and risks affecting survivors and their children.
- Providing trauma-informed and strengths-based support.
- Supporting individuals with complex social, housing and practical needs.
- Advocating on behalf of survivors to ensure their needs and wishes are represented.
- Supporting individuals to access safe and appropriate accommodation.
- Working collaboratively with housing teams, statutory services and other external agencies.
- Developing effective multi-agency relationships to improve outcomes.
- Monitoring progress against agreed support plans and helping individuals work towards greater independence.
- Identifying and responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns.
- Maintaining accurate, confidential and up-to-date client records.
- Working in accordance with organisational policies, procedures and professional boundaries.
- Travelling regularly throughout Somerset.
- Participating in an out-of-hours on-call rota.
About You

The successful candidate should have:
- A good understanding of domestic abuse and its impact on victims, survivors and children.
- Experience working within a housing, social care, health care or related support environment.
- The ability to build trusting and professional relationships with people experiencing difficult or complex circumstances.
- An understanding of safeguarding, risk assessment and risk management.
- The ability to provide sensitive, non-judgemental and trauma-informed support.
- Strong communication and advocacy skills.
- The ability to work effectively with external professionals and agencies.
- Good organisational and record-keeping skills.
- The ability to manage an individual caseload and prioritise competing demands.
- A commitment to promoting safety, independence, dignity and choice.
- A full driving licence and access to a vehicle due to regular travel throughout Somerset.
Previous experience specifically within domestic abuse services would be advantageous; however, candidates with relevant transferable experience within housing, social care or health care are encouraged to apply.

Additional Requirements
