Health & Safety Officer – Training & Career Development opportunities

Delighted to be supporting this growing FMCG / Distribution business in the recruitment of a proactive and motivated Health & Safety Officer to join their expanding team.
Working closely with the Senior Leadership team, including a CMIOSH who will act as a mentor, the Health & Safety Officer, you will take ownership of site health and safety performance, ensuring legislative compliance, reducing risk, and driving continuous improvement across the business.
Role Requirements:
- NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent Health & Safety qualification (essential)
- 2–3 years' experience within a Health & Safety role
- Experience within food manufacturing, warehousing, cold storage, or similar operational environments highly desirable
- Proven experience in auditing, workplace inspections, and incident investigations
- Strong understanding of health and safety legislation and compliance requirements
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular risk assessments, workplace inspections, and audits to identify and mitigate hazards
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, producing detailed reports and recommendations
- Maintain accurate records relating to incidents, inspections, and risk assessments
- Coordinate and deliver health and safety training programmes and maintain the site training matrix
- Support emergency preparedness, including fire safety procedures and first aid arrangements
- Review, update, and implement health and safety policies and procedures in line with current legislation
- Drive a positive safety culture through coaching, communication, and engagement across all departments
- Ensure the correct provision and use of PPE and safety equipment
- Monitor and maintain first aid provisions throughout the site
- Work collaboratively with management teams to identify opportunities for continuous improvement in health and safety performance
Pay: £35,000.00-£38,000.00 per year
