Rask Coffee House is a vibrant, community-minded cafe serving great coffee and homemade bites in a welcoming atmosphere. We’re a small but busy team that values providing our customers great service, quality in everything we do, and teamwork. We’re looking for an Assistant Chef who is enthusiastic, eager to learn, and ready to step up as needed.Due to our expansion, we are looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Chef to join our friendly kitchen team.
This role is primarily on weekends, with cover for annual leave as needed. You will learn from our head chef, support daily prep and service, and, once trained, step up to lead the kitchen when required. No formal culinary qualification is required—just a genuine desire to learn, reliability, and a positive team attitude.
What you’ll do:·
Assist with prep, plating, and maintaining kitchen hygiene·
Support during service and keep stations organized·
Learn recipes, techniques, portion control, and food safety·
Help with stock, waste management, and basic ordering·
When fully trained, run kitchen operations during shifts· When not in the kitchen or during quieter periods, assist front of house staff with counter service and front of house duties.
What we’re looking for:·
Keen to learn; no formal qualification needed·
Weekend availability (with some weekday cover when needed)·
Team player, good communicator, able to stay calm in a busy kitchen·
Basic cooking experience or a strong interest in food.
We are looking for someone based locally or within easy commuting distance to Derby City Centre.
Pay: £12.71-£13.00 per hour
