What do we need?
We are looking for a Maintenance Assistant to join our team. Reporting to our Maintenance Manager you will support the day-to-day maintenance to our head office and all our venues ensuring bedrooms, bathrooms, public areas, back-of-house areas, grounds, and equipment are safe, functional, and well-presented. Longbow Venues has 6 venues covering Grindleford, Hathersage, Ashford in the Water, Owler Bar, Rowsley and Bakewell, plus a head office in Bakewell.
About the job:
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out general repairs and maintenance across all venues.
- Complete basic plumbing, decorating, joinery and general handyman tasks.
- Repair issues with showers, toilets, doors, locks, windows, furniture and fixtures.
- Assist with room refurbishments, moving furniture, deliveries, and setting up equipment when required.
- Keep maintenance areas, tools, plant rooms, and storage spaces clean, organised, and safe.
- Help maintain external areas, light gardening and keeping the grounds tidy, including entrances, car parks, pathways, bins and signage.
- Assist contractors on site and ensure work areas are left tidy and safe.
- Communicate clearly with the Maintenance Manager and team members at venues.
- Prioritise urgent guest-facing issues and work professionally around guests.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience advantageous, but not essential, apprenticeship or NVQ courses available.
- Ability to work independently and use initiative.
- Good communication and organisation skills.
- Reliable, practical, and hands-on.

- Calm under pressure.
- Good problem-solver.
- Takes pride in standards and presentation.
- Flexible and willing to help where needed.
Driving license essential as you will need to be reliably, and sometimes independently, commute between the venues.
