Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Data Centre Manager (Site Lead) to oversee the operations, maintenance, and security of our state-of-the-art data center facility. This pivotal role requires a proactive leader with a passion for technology, exceptional management skills, and a deep understanding of data center infrastructure. Duties
- Lead the daily operations of the data center, ensuring seamless management of server management, network infrastructure, and systems engineering activities.
- Oversee and coordinate technical support for hardware, software, network issues, and disaster recovery procedures to minimize downtime.
- Manage and supervise a team of technical staff, providing guidance on network support, security protocols, and project execution.
- Implement and maintain robust information security measures including network security protocols, firewalls, Active Directory management, and compliance with ITIL standards.
- Monitor system performance using tools like SolarWinds and vSphere; conduct analysis to identify potential improvements or vulnerabilities.
- Ensure effective disaster recovery planning and testing to safeguard critical data and maintain business continuity.
- Oversee network infrastructure including Cisco routers, LAN/WAN configurations, DHCP services, IIS servers, SQL databases, VMware environments, Azure/AWS cloud platforms, and remote access solutions such as VPNs.
- Conduct regular audits on network security measures; manage firewall configurations and intrusion detection systems to protect against cyber threats.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams using tools like ServiceNow and Jira to track issues, projects, and maintenance schedules.
- Develop organisational strategies for capacity planning; optimize system performance while adhering to organisational goals for efficiency.
Experience
- 10+ years management experience in a data center environment or similar high-tech facility with supervisory responsibilities.
- Extensive knowledge of server management including Windows Server (Windows), Linux operating systems, VMware vSphere environments, Microsoft SQL Server, SharePoint, IIS web services, and cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
- Strong understanding of computer networking concepts including LAN/WAN architecture, Cisco routers/switches, firewall configuration, DHCP/DNS services (including Microsoft DHCP), remote access software solutions, and WAN optimization techniques.
- Demonstrated expertise in information security practices, network security protocols, vulnerability assessment tools like SolarWinds, and disaster recovery planning.
- Familiarity with systems engineering principles; experience with software development processes is a plus.
- Excellent analysis skills to troubleshoot complex technical issues quickly; proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint for reporting purposes.
- Effective leadership qualities with supervising experience; capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high organizational standards.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively across teams; ability to articulate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
